Aged Care

Infocus Food Safety has worked extensively in the Aged Care Sector for the past 17 years and understands the importance of managing food safety risks for aged care residents. We work closely with our clients to develop tailored Food Safety Programs and training services to meet the needs of the aged care sector.

Our Food Safety Programs incorporate food production and service processes that are specific to aged care, including:

  • Menu design support to minimise the risks to aged care residents while still focussing on the needs and rights of residents and the importance of positive dining experiences
  • Cooking and cooling processes to keep vulnerable populations safe
  • Texture modification processes in line with IDDSI standards, including moulding and freezing
  • Transport and service of food from production kitchens to serveries or to dementia-specific areas
  • Allergen and special dietary management procedures, from receipt of goods to meal service
  • Lifestyle activities such as resident cooking activities, day trips, kitchen garden programs and barbecues
  • Compliance with the national Food Safety Standards, Aged Care Accreditation Standards and local State or Territory laws

Infocus Food Safety is also registered in all states and territories to provide nationally recognised Food Handler and Food Safety Supervisor training for those working in the aged care sector. Training can be provided onsite with your staff, or via flexible online learning. In addition to accredited training, we also offer non-accredited courses, refreshers and customised training to meet clients’ specific needs. Our experienced trainers incorporate real aged care-based food safety issues, scenarios and examples into their training sessions, ensuring that staff are engaged and learning from realistic and relevant experiences.

We are experienced in delivering food safety services across multiple aged care sites and jurisdictions including the successful implementation of compliant and ‘corporately consistent’ food safety management systems for Bupa Care Services, Allity, Uniting AgeWell, IRT and Aveo.

Most of our large, multi-site aged care clients engage us for a full suite of consultancy and training services. This includes ongoing support and food safety advice, development and annual review of their Food Safety Programs, onsite visits, staff training (onsite or online) and internal audits each year.
